It’s hard to enjoy life when you’re struggling with anxiety and/or depression. You could be experiencing moments when it’s difficult to focus on the present. Anxiety can come in many different forms, such as:

  • A sense of uneasiness that never goes away
  • A feeling of being unable to manage life
  • An overall sense of dread of what is to come
  • Difficulty sleeping or relaxing
  • Difficulty letting go of the worries in your life

Over time, these symptoms can become more intense and even lead to full-blown panic attacks, which may make you feel as though you are losing your grip or even dying. In an effort to avoid this distress, you may have begun avoiding activities and shrinking your world. You might feel utterly alone.

  • Anxious and negative self-talk
  • False beliefs about yourself and your ability to handle challenges
    Stuffed feelings
  • Lack of confidence and self-advocacy
  • Lack of self-care
  • Muscle tension
  • Stimulants and other dietary factors

Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand.

It may be difficult to separate the two because anxiety can feed depression and depression can feed anxiety. It is very common for people dealing with anxiety to have depressive thoughts, especially when overwhelming worry makes the whole world seem hopeless. Conversely, people suffering from depression may have anxious thoughts about the future, questioning whether depressive thoughts are possible to overcome. How can you tell the difference?

People with anxiety tend to worry about the uncertainty of the future. Those with depression may feel more certain about the future but anticipate poor outcomes. People with depression are convinced of the hopelessness of the future, or believe it is already determined. People with anxiety have a general dread of the future, with all of its unknowns.

Every person is different. Individualized therapy for anxiety and depression works.

As professional, experienced counselors, we understand how lonely it can be to struggle with anxiety and/or depression. We provide a safe and confidential environment for anxiety and depression treatment and aim to honor your individual experience, personality and needs. Although we will serve as an expert and gentle guide, you conduct the pace of your counseling sessions. As you build strength in your ability to overcome your fears, you will begin to learn new skills.

Working collaboratively, we will begin to uncover causes that create and perpetuate your anxiety. This new awareness can give you confidence to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Although we will modify our approach to suit your needs, as appropriate, we will draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, using a humanistic approach in the application of cognitive behavioral techniques. This has been proven to be the most effective behavioral treatment for anxiety and depression. CBT can help you learn how to recognize and change your thinking, which will then affect how you feel and behave. As you develop a new ability to notice your thoughts, you can come to see that your thoughts can lie to you. You will learn to identify negative thoughts and challenge them, creating a new set of thought patterns that support greater self-compassion and bring you relief.

During therapy for anxiety and depression, we will also guide you through the process of learning to manage your physical symptoms, because an anxious mind cannot reside in a relaxed body. This can offer you:

Relief to begin exploring the underlying causes and connections

Confidence to start initiating the changes that can transform your life

At every step along the way, we will be there, offering support and effective strategies for healing. We will work to find an anxiety and depression treatment approach that works for you. With the right kind of help, it is possible to shift your perspective, tap into your inner wisdom, believe in yourself and navigate life with greater ease.
